A long and overdue summer update...

It's been awhile, at least 2 months since I've last posted anything. It's not that I haven't had time... probably more that I haven't made the time. Or, I am too tired to blog. Anyway, I thought maybe I should write something, a "little" update if you will, on the happenings as of late.

1. Preceptorship was a fantastic experience. Great preceptor, supportive staff, generally friendly patients, didn't kill anyone (that's pretty important, don't you think?).

2. Finished my program on August 7. Finally, after 20 months of intensity I can let out a sigh of relief.

3. Went home for a week in July and watched my childhood best friend get married. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it so I'm really glad I did. Glad to spend time with family too although there were some good and bads with that - maybe there will be a future posting on that.

4. Learned a lot about border crossings and laws on the way to Washington state to camp. That is definitely blog-posting worthy.

5. Our slo-pitch team came in 2nd in our division at our year-end ball tournament. Though 30 degree weather is beautiful, playing ball in such heat is not. We all got some degree of heat exhaustion that weekend...

6. I dislike résumé/CV/cover letter writing as well as job searching. So stressful... There's a hiring freeze in Vancouver so that makes things a tad more difficult.

7. I'm 95% sure I'm going back to Haiti in November, hopefully with some of my roommates and friends from church.

8. Though I have a lot of time to relax being out of school and all, I still feel like I can't completely unwind. Maybe it's because I've been stressed for 20 months straight, I've been too tightly wound up. I'm realizing it may take more than a few weeks to get myself back to a relaxed state... and that's ok.

9. A few close friends have moved away which is exciting but also quite sad as I won't be able to see them on a regular basis anymore. Sigh...

10. Remember my "blight" posting? Yeah, I think it's becoming a little more clearer now. Our church is doing a series on idols and wow... it sure is convicting. God is showing me how these different idols are killing me inside and my relationships too. Idol removal is no easy process either. It seems like this is a time of intense refinement which is good... but also hard at the same time.

I think through this all, I've been learning what it means for God to provide me my daily bread. On days I didn't think I'd survive, I actually did - He always gave just the amount I needed. It rarely ever was the amount I wanted... but what I want and what I need are two different things.

Though school has ended and one stress is out of my life, I doubt my life will become any easier at this point. I'm definitely in a time of major transition. However, with His help I will persevere and endure, hopefully building lots of character and true hope.
