Definition, Antonym, Counterfit...

My friend, Jessica, sent this to me which I thought was an interesting way to understand the fruit of the Spirit. I especially enjoy the fact that it's not just the definition and it's opposite, but it also adds another aspect; the fake. Definitely convicting to read :)

Love - Sacrificing your interests for the good of another. It's opposite is fear (self-protection). It's counterfeit is selfish need-affection.

Joy - Delightful appreciation of God and his salvation. It's opposite is hopelessness. It's counterfeit is a good feeling based on present blessings, not the blesser.

Peace - Confidence and trust in God's wisdom and control of your life. It's opposite is worry. It's counterfeit is confidence in your own ability to control your life.

Patience - Suffering without resentment or retaliation. It's opposite is irritability. It's counterfeit is laziness, apathy and indifference.

Kindness - Being generous with time, money, talents. It's opposite is coldness and miserliness. It's counterfeit is good deeds done to get something for yourself.

Goodness (integrity) - Being genuine, the same in public as you are in private, the same with one group as you are with another group. It's opposite is hypocrisy. It's counterfeit is insensitive "truth telling."

Faithfulness - Being dependable, following through on commitments. It's opposite is irresponsibility. It's counterfeit is half-heartedness.

Gentleness (humility) - Being self-forgetful. It's opposite is pride (superiority feelings). It's counterfeit is self-consciousness and shyness (inferiority feelings).

Self-control - Being able to choose the important thing over the urgent out of a desire to please God. It's opposite is an uncontrolled spirit. It's counterfeit is will power through pride.

Apparently I'm a rare breed...

I love personality tests and stuff like that. I find them so fascinating. How does answering a bunch of questions figure out what type of person you are??? Crazy.

When my good friend, Ev, sent me this, I was quite excited. I'm an INFJ and apparently only 1% of the population is this type. I feel quite special, hahaha :P

This other site explaining INFJs lists some famous people who are also that type. What I don't understand is how they know this (eg. Nathan, the prophet of Israel). Did they do the test for him or something? I don't get it...

Anyway, I'm interested in seeing what other people are so let me know!

An "ER" Snapshot

From left to right: Meaghan, Lynne (our clinical instructor), Vicky, Pam (behind Vicky), moi, Matt, and Queenie

The above is of my fantabulous clinical group from 1st term and boy, am I ever gonna miss being with them in the hospital! We all got along really well which I guess wasn't the case for some of the other clinical groups so I feel very blessed. Good times, good times :)

Mindy is...

DONE DONE DONE!!!!!!

I have officially survived my first term of Nursing and now have only 4 left to go. Yay me! (and the other 59 students in our class!)

For the past week, I've had a perma-headache which still isn't relieved so as we speak. Back in my last degree, I would study from 8AM to 10PM for 2 weeks straight and never really had a problem so I don't know why it was so tough studying this time around. Perhaps it's because I'm getting old??? Or maybe it's because of the material we've had to study. Seriously, for some of our classes, I wondered why we had to spend 3 freakin' hours on learning things such as how to have a professional caring attitude. I understand it's important and not everyone knows how to care well but really, 3 hours? My goodness...

Anyway, now that I'm done I actually don't really know what to do with myself. There is a huge list of things I need to do such as taxes, clean my room, help clean the house, clean out my inbox, chill out and watch a movie, draw, work on my "story", etc etc but for whatever reason, I have no motivation to do anything... but I want to do something! Aiya~... I'm so complicated.

Classes start on May 4 so until then, I will be:
- getting my hair trimmed and body-waved (a wavy perm for those of you who have no idea what a body wave is)
- doing my taxes
- have fun with friends
- go back to Southern AB and spend time with my family
- attend a wedding
- visit friends who've recently had babies (it feels like everyone is either getting married or popping children)
- NOT STUDY!

Praise God that I haven't gone insane... and for the beautiful weather we've been having here in Vancouver. I hope it'll be nice at home too! At least nice enough to go golfing anyway...

The End of the Beginning...

I had my last class of the semester today, woot! It's hard to believe how fast these 3 months have gone by. Looking back, we learned A LOT... It's almost overwhelming the amount of information that's been packed into our brains. You know how when your stomach is so full but your aunt/grandma/friend's mom/etc pours more food onto your plate and keeps telling you to eat, but you're super full and you feel like you'll throw up if you eat another bite? Yeah, that's how my brain feels right now. And so, although this week hasn't been as crazy busy as some of the other weeks, I just can't fit anything else into my brain right now; nothing will go in. It's filled to the brim. It's about to explode. It's like a turkey with too much stuffing inside and you're trying to cram in another cup full. I think you get the point.

I feel a little sad though about the semester ending. As hard and as tough as it was at times, God's blessed me with such awesome relationships and such good spiritual conversations that that in itself is overwhelming. Being 1 semester done means that I only have 4 more semesters left with these people before we go off in our own separate ways. I want to get to know them better, to love them as God loves them, to be a light pointing the way to Christ.

Next week, I have my last 2 days of clinical and an open lab time to practice all my skills before my lab exam. Then, finals! Then, I'm done! I do look forward to the break though; my mind and body definitely needs it.
